First Methodist's Weekly Newsletter
Dear First Family,
I’m sharing a special email with you today as a follow up to this past weekend’s message, the third in our Rooted series on the history of the 18th-century movement that gave birth to Methodism.
We talked about our understanding of the Christian faith as being about incorporating the Head, the Heart, the Hands, and the Feet. We express that in our core value that serving Jesus means serving others.
At the end of this email, I have included the questions I asked at the end of that message. I want to invite you to join me in prayerfully considering these, and as you do, I would love to hear your feedback. You can email me anytime at pastordavid(at)fmcm.org.
One of the key reasons that our church excels in service is the leadership that Teresa Sherwood has provided in this area for the past 24 years. What we do locally and around the world has grown exponentially over that course of time, and it has been her heart for reaching, blessing and empowering others that has become the heart of our entire church.
This April, Teresa will be retiring from the role she has faithfully filled for more than two decades. On May 12th, at the 11am worship service, we will be honoring Teresa for her many years of service to our church family.
I am also grateful to share that as we transition in this critical area, Susan Luttrell, who has served as our Director of Local Missions, will be moving into a larger role providing leadership for all our local, regional and global missionary initiatives.
I hope you will join me in expressing our deep appreciation for all that Teresa has done to transform and enhance the life of our faith family. If you would like to express your gratitude for Teresa’s ministry through a gift, she would greatly appreciate any support for our Mexico ministry partner in Matamoros. They have a great need for upgrades to their facility, as well as emergency care for a growing number of people being housed at their shelter. You may contribute through our website.
Just in case you are wondering, Donnie & Teresa are not going anywhere, but grateful to be transitioning into this new chapter in their life together. And of course, Teresa is going to enjoy spending more time with her grandkids.
I am grateful for your faithfulness in fulfilling our mission of Making Disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others and serve the world. It is an incredible honor to serve as your pastor.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor David
